HISTORY

Willa Wincent has been part of Gdynia’s history since the very beginning.

The building was erected in 1929 only three years after Gdynia was granted city rights. Mrs Maria Kozierska – the villa’s first owner – created it with the idea of opening a guesthouse. However, the Second World War ended her plans and started a turbulent chapter of the villa’s story.

In 2015 three young businessmen from Gdynia bought the declining property in hopes to bring it back to life and fulfill mrs. Kozierska’s dream of opening a guesthouse. The revitalization was assigned to three architects – Maciek Ryniewicz, Rafał and Krzysztof Kaletowski. Now willa Wincent is opening its doors just in time for its 90th birthday!

DESIGN

Willa Wincent’s interior tells the story of Gdynia’s modernist design.

We looked for inspiration in local architecture, exhibitions portraying the creation of the city and close contact with the Historic Preservation Officer. The outcome is a unique color palette, materials and textures used in our interiors.

We’ve also mixed new furniture designed by Maciek Ryniewicz and Rafał Kaletowski with limited-editions of Polish design classics brought back to life by Politura. One of them is the Byk (Bull) chair by Edmund Homa – a distinguished architect and designer who spent most of his life in Gdynia.
